Laundromat results And fly mask recommendations

Two ponies in fresh clean flysuits 😆

Sadly, these Lycra masks are not long for this world, pasture life, more specifically rubbing on sprinkler heads GAH! Is too much for them.

While flies are actually not a huge issue here, midges definitely are. Which means masks must have ears (and all my Cali ones don’t...)

I have to be extra careful with Tesla, as masks can rub her eyes, I tried the Rambo plus fly mask, and she got horrible rubs behind her ears. I also felt that the wire was right in her line of sight, and she had some trouble seeing out of it. Plus giant mare ears, they almost always rub the tips (even considered mule masks 😆)

What are your favourite eye-sparing, hard wearing, long eared fly masks?

  1. Dawn is such a good product.
I love the Shire's fly masks. Especially the ones with the fringe rather than the nose guard.

    1. Miss Princess cannot have anything tickling her nose - I might try a DIY fringe and see if she will tolerate it...thanks for the recommendations!

  2. Levi also gets rubs in most fly masks. I've found that the Shires fly masks work well. They have an internal fleece-lined foam/fabric tube (I'm not describing this well) that keeps the mask from resting/rubbing on the horse. I've probably tried like 10+ different types of fly masks and this is the only one that works. They come in versions that don't touch the nose.
