1st Barn Tour

So here it is, the very first barn tour. Everything is rough, but that will make the make-over that much better, yes?

Here is the floorpan:

Blue = Windows
Red = Doors
Green = Gates
Grey = concrete floors, remainder of floors are dirt
Tack Room and Feed Rooms have high built-in shelving/storage

I appreciate how well-built, and well-thought-out this set-up is, and can see the potential - even tho' it needs some love...

Feed Room: I found that Classroom Chalkboard at a local Goodwill for $8. Can't wait to hang it up and write all the info, etc. on it!
A thorough cleaning, some mouse traps, and a replaced light switch and this will be ready to go!

Tack room: All the insulation was exposed - and the mice were having a party...Thorough clean, cover all exposed insulation, mouse-traps (or potentially adopt a barn cat) and then TACK ROOM ORGANIZATION! (I've already been pouring over Pinterest for ideas.....) That pegboard will for sure get relocated and used! The wooden saddle racks are bolted to the studs....will make covering the insulation tricky, so they probably will get repurposed or reassembled elsewhere...

Barn Aisle: Swept - and this summer, when it is warm enough to paint and the girls can stay in the pasture 24-7,  I will put a coat of paint/polywipe/stain to protect all that wood <3

Pretty sure the previous owners didn't have horses....not recent ones anyways - but they did have chickens...there were layers of compacted animal waste and old nasty straw...all of which needs to be removed.

I found decayed rabbit remains in here - as well as shed snakeskin....so will definitely be getting the rattlesnake vaccine for the girls...just in case O_o

Side of the barn - this was entirely covered with large tumbleweeds, which Trail Boss and I removed most of. The plan is to rent a little dirt mover and level things out/put down chips, etc.

This barn honestly looks like it hadn't been touched in years: this is actually very common in this area - a lot of folks have horse property/setups, and no animals.....

Alot of work in my near future - but gonna be SO worth it in the end!
